While acknowledging the vast opportunities the ocean brings, she also pointed out that it serves as a starting point to address significant contemporary issues such as climate change and human-induced pollution. Consul General Burns affirmed the United States' full support for Vietnam's efforts in marine environmental protection. She noted that leaders from both countries have set ambitious goals to eliminate single-use plastics and enhance recycling capabilities jointly.

During his address at the ceremony, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, highlighted that nearly a year since Vietnam and the United States upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development, both sides have actively promoted specific cooperative activities.
