
During her speech at the ceremony, U.S. Consul General Susan Burns in Ho Chi Minh City praised the bilateral relations between the United States and Vietnam. She highlighted that since elevating to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023, the bilateral relationship has grown stronger than ever. Burns emphasized that this year's Independence Day theme was "The Ocean," aiming to honor the efforts of both nations in marine environmental protection. While acknowledging the vast opportunities the ocean brings, she also pointed out that it serves as a starting point to address significant contemporary issues such as climate change and human-induced pollution. Consul General Burns affirmed the United States' full support for Vietnam's efforts in marine environmental protection. She noted that leaders from both countries have set ambitious goals to eliminate single-use plastics and enhance recycling capabilities jointly.
